Des records de vente pour la PS3
Malgré une soirée de lancement complètement ratée, il s’avère que la console se vend tout de même très bien, avec notamment un record en Grande-Bretagne de 165′000 unités vendues en l’espace de deux jours. Pour comparaison, la 360 s’est écoulée à 71′000 unités et la Wii à 105′000 unités (mais avec des stocks différents de la PS3) lors de leur lancement respectifs.
Pour l’Europe, 600′000 unités vendues sur un stock livré estimé à 1′000′000 d’unités.
Autre information concernant le processeur CELL, Namco a annoncé qu’il utilisera le processeur dans ses futures bornes d’arcade. Le prochain jeu à utiliser ce processeur en dehors de la PS3 est naturellement Tekken 6.
